The Hideout in Kirkwood, California

Directions

For those arriving by plane, Kirkwood is just under a two hour drive from either Sacramento or Reno. There are little-to-no rideshare services in the immediate area so renting a car is highly recommended. For guests traveling from the Bay Area it is a three hour drive on average. Additional travel recommendations and suggestions can be found below.

 

Flights

The closest airports to the venue are Sacramento (SMF) and Reno (RNO), both options are just under a two hour drive from The Hideout. We understand that non-stop flight options may not be available to some of our guests at these airports - alternatively San Francisco (SFO) will have more non-stop flights available, as well as Oakland (OAK) and San Jose (SJC), but the drive time from these airports may range from 3-4 hours depending on the time of day and traffic.

Where to Stay

Glamping, Hotels, and AirBnB’s

Although the venue is relatively remote, there are several great lodging options available to our guests, including on-site glamping, as well as hotels and AirBnB’s available in the nearby Kirkwood Mountain Resort area.

HOTELS & LODGING

Kirkwood Mountain is owned by Vail Resorts and is a 25 minute drive from The Hideout. They have a variety of different lodging options available. You can make a reservation by clicking here.

AIRBNB

There are several AirBnBs available within a 25 minute drive of The Hideout. We recommend searching in the “Kirkwood Mountain Resort” area.

GLAMPING

For those interested in staying on-site at The Hideout, there is an 8 tent glamping village hosted by Canvas Occasions on the property. Tents rent for $170/night for a minimum of two nights. Each tent includes a queen bed, memory foam mattress, bedding, side table, lantern, mirror, rug, towels, seating, and a propane heater. These are high quality, all-weather tents, capable of withstanding dynamic weather conditions and providing a good night’s rest. Please note that the glamping village shares a communal bathroom area. Things To Do

Activities at The Hideout

We are so excited to share this amazing experience with all of our favorite people! For those who have never been, the Sierra Mountain Range is home to Lake Tahoe, an awe-inspiring alpine gem, where crystal-clear waters meet towering pines and snow-capped peaks. We plan to spend all of our time at The Hideout, but for those who are interested in venturing out, Lake Tahoe is only an hour away from the venue and is definitely worth experiencing.

THE HIDEOUT

Nestled in the heart of the mountains, The Hideout offers a stunning 40-acre retreat for our wedding. Guests can paddle or swim in the private lake, soak in the giant granite hot tub, or hike scenic trails surrounded by wildflowers and tall pines. Enjoy cozy campfire gatherings, outdoor games, or stargazing under clear mountain skies. With its rustic charm and endless activities, The Hideout is sure to be the perfect backdrop for our celebration!

KIRKWOOD

A premier destination in the Sierra Nevada renowned for its natural beauty and diverse activities. Embark on a mountain biking or hiking adventures through wildflower-laden meadows, or challenge yourself on the high-altitude DiscWood disc golf course and thrilling ziplines. Conclude your day with a meal at the historic Kirkwood Inn & Saloon or a soak at nearby Grover Hot Springs.

LAKE TAHOE

In September, Lake Tahoe bursts with vibrant fall colors, making it a perfect time for scenic hikes along trails like the Tahoe Rim Trail or Eagle Lake. The crisp weather is ideal for kayaking or paddleboarding on the crystal-clear waters of Emerald Bay, where you can soak in stunning views of Fannette Island. For a unique experience, ride the Heavenly Gondola for panoramic vistas of the lake and surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains.
